INTERVENTION
A drug addict is struggling with a serious, potentially fatal, disease. Intervention can be analogous to an ambulance taking a wounded person to the hospital. Without a means of getting to treatment, the addict’s situation is just as dangerous as a gunshot victim who’s left out on the street.
To provide that “vehicle” for treatment, our staff of professional interventionists will arrange a time and place to meet with the circle of people closest to the addict, where the process—and each person’s part in it—can be explained.
THE PLANNING:
Plans will be made to arrange a meeting with the addict, where everyone will have an opportunity to share how the drug user’s behavior has affected their lives. With care and concern, they present the facts of the situation. They set boundaries. They press the addict to acknowledge the problem and take corrective action.
THE PROCESS:
The most important point in the intervention is when the ultimatum to seek help is presented to the addict. This is also why the assistance of a professional is so crucial. By nature, addicts are conniving, deceitful and manipulative. Our interventionists have heard all the stories before. We plan for situations like this.
THE OUTCOME:
Prior to the intervention, our staff will have made all the arrangements necessary to transport the addict directly to our Executive Treatment facility. No stalling, no excuses.
